Poor Gabby.  She KNEW she turned her library book in on time, but Mrs. Stone, the school librarian says it wasn’t turned in!  What could be happening to her books?  Gabby is determined to find out!

Her search leads her to create a fake library book and drop it in the bin, scoping out the situation until she finds out who is stealing her books.

How this story came to be born:

I discovered the other day when renting a book from the library that I have had one particular book out for a VERY LONG time.  A very VERY VERY long time.  This is a bad thing to do.  I just didn’t realize I’d had it out that long!  But what if I DID turn my book in on time, and somebody else managed to take it back out?  And thus, Oscar the Octopus is born.  Read about him in the “Story of the Week”.
